The reviews for the IQAir HealthPro Plus HEPA Air Purifier are pretty good but they are a bit mixed. On Amazon.com the HealthPro Plus received a 3.9 star rating out of a possible 5 stars which is not terrible but not great either. On other sites, the reviews were better. We found one site that had seven reviews and 6 out of the 7 were 5 stars and one was 4 stars. Another site we found had 30 user reviews and 29 out of the 30 reviewers said they would recommend this product to a friend.

On Amazon.com there were a few 1 and 2 star reviews that brought the overall average down. It seems like some of the people had buyers remorse because their main reason for giving the HealthPro Plus a poor review was that it was too expensive which is really unfair because these people knew the price before they purchased the machine. The most common reason for a lot of the negative reviews was that the IQAir HealthPro Plus HEPA Air Purifier emits a foul odor. However, one reviewer contacted the manufacturer and got the following explanation for the bad smell.

The smell comes from the V5 filter which is an activated charcoal filter. The charcoal absorbs odors from the air whether the machine is running or not. A number of factors can cause these odors, factors such as where the machine has been stored, how long it has been in storage, how it is shipped etc. During the time in storage and shipping the charcoal filter can pick up a number of odors and will even release these odors the first few times you use the machine. A lot of people that left positive reviews for the IQAir HealthPro Plus HEPA Air Purifier said that they noticed odors at first but that the odors went away after a few days of use.

Despite some negative reviews the number of positive reviews greatly outnumber the negative comments by a pretty significant margin. People are saying that this machine does in fact do a good job of removing odors from the air and some people say that they no longer smelled smoke coming from the neighbor’s apartments. A lot of people are also reporting tremendous relief from allergy symptoms. A number of people are saying that the IQAir HealthPro Plus HEPA Air Purifier is by far the best air purifier they have ever used and would highly recommend it to anyone else that wants to breathe cleaner air.

We found close to 200 reviews online and the average user rating is approximately 4 stars. Some of the negative reviews came from people that don’t particularly like filters that ionize the air because the ionization process releases small amounts of ozone however these machines release just a tiny amount of ozone and it is not a concern for most users.

The other common complaint and the reason for a lot of the negative reviews was that there is a strange plastic or chemical type smell coming from this machine. A lot of people were very concerned by this and some people even returned this machine because of it but the manufacturer says that the smell is from an antimicrobial coating and that running the unit for approximately 24 hours will eliminate the odor. A number of reviewers corroborate that statement saying that after a day or two the smell went away but the manufacturer may have been able to save themselves some headaches if they simply ran these machines for 24 hours themselves before shipping them out to be sold.

The complaints mentioned above account for a very high percentage of any negative comments but there were also a large number of people that were very happy with the Honeywell HFD-120-Q. Many people credit this machine with relief from their allergy symptoms. We only found a couple dozen reviews online for the Austin Air HealthMate but the reviews that we did find were outstanding.  Most reviewers had great things to say about this product and there were only a couple of negative comments.  One of the negative reviews came from someone that said they have “lots of cats”.  They said that when they run this air purifier the smell goes away for a little while but then comes back.  That makes us wonder exactly how many cats “a lot of cats” is.

Another negative review came from a person that gave the Austin Air HealthMate a 1 star rating because it arrived damaged but this person went on to say “I would recommend it, as the best air purifier on the market. I recently purchased another, so now we have one on each floor. We are breathing much better! “– That does not sound like a 1 star review to us.

Many reviewers stated that the Austin Air HealthMate is the best air purifier they have ever owned.  One reviewer said that one large unit is enough for their entire house and that it reduces or eliminates odors from their cat’s litter box.  They also said that if they are away from the house for a few days the Austin Air HealthMate makes stale air fresher when they return home.

There are not a lot of reviews from actual consumers of this product online.  This is understandable though because we are not talking about a $15 toaster oven here we are looking at a whole house air purification system that will cost approximately $2500 to $3000.  Any item that requires this type of investment is going to sell to a smaller number of people and therefore there will be fewer customer reviews available online to help you make your buying decision.

The good news is that the few reviews that we did find were all very positive and gave the IQAir Perfect 16 whole house air purifier very high marks.  One reviewer said that although her expectations were high before, after the system was installed she was “awestruck”.  Not only does this air purifier do the job it claims it can do, it does it silently and efficiently.  This air purifier is not cheap but the price does include professional installation and the fact that the filters will not need to be changed for up to three years will be a big money saver.

The Blueair 601 air purifier passed laboratory tests conducted by Consumer Reports with flying colors being rated “Excellent” for both smoke and dust removal.  People with allergies and asthma report that their symptoms have been kept to a minimum because of this high-quality air filter.  One reviewer called their apartment a safe haven during high pollen days and reported that any allergy symptoms go away within 30 minutes when they use this machine.  Many people call this machine quiet and reliable.  It’s also easy to clean and replace the filters and although it is a large machine it has four wheels to make it easier to move from one room to another.  One reviewer reported that on the highest setting the Blueair 601 does such a good job of removing dust from the air that they no longer have to dust three times a week and that they now only dust their master bedroom twice a month.

It’s not easy to find any negative reviews of this product but one of the things that some people were a little disappointed about was the fact that this machine does not have a pre-filter which would help prevent dust buildup inside the unit in areas that are harder to clean.  A pre-filter would also help extend the life of the more expensive main filter.

Replacement filters are a little more expensive with the Blueair 501 than they are for some other air purifiers and the filters will need to be replaced twice a year.  This machine is more expensive than a lot of other air purifiers on the market but according to our research it is also far more effective so if you need a top quality air purifier that gets the job done the Blueair 501 is an excellent choice.

The average customer rating based on 111 reviews of this product was 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Many of the reviews are from people that have been suffering from allergies for many years that found a significant amount of relief from their symptoms after using the Alen A350 air purifier. It’s a user-friendly machine that is easy to operate and is very quiet on the first two speed settings. This lightweight machine is easy to move from one room to another. The air goes in through the front of the machine and the comes out the top after passing through a filter that lasts up to 120 days depending on household conditions and how often you use it.  Replacement filters are inexpensive and easy to change. It’s a nice looking compact machine at an affordable price.
